About

Meredith Kornfeld

I pride myself on tailoring your treatment to your individual needs and personality; I therefore use many modalities and techniques, as different people respond to different styles of therapy. I often use cognitive behavioral therapy, which is an evidence-based therapy proven to elicit changes in thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I may sometimes supplement the work with readings and handouts or worksheets which will help those changes come about.

Working from a strength-based approach, I specialize in addiction and recovery not only for the person struggling with addiction issues but also for the loved ones struggling with codependency, anger, and the other debilitating problems that go along with alcoholism and addiction.

I also specialize in improving self-esteem and treating depression, anxiety, and many other issues.

I am now trained in ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy), which is a fantastic intervention for trauma, compulsive behavior, negative thoughts, and other issues.  Not unlike a cross between EMDR and Narrative Therapy, it uses bilateral eye movement and a structured script.  Clients do not verbally process trauma, but go through visualizations of the negative images or scenes they wish to alter/heal from, and then rewrite the "script", changing the way the brain processes or holds the issues.  Often amazing results come after only one session.  Below is the link if you are interested in reading more about it.

I provide individual, couples, and family sessions.
